ZTE Open, first Firefox OS powered phone goes on sale

It was in February, earlier this year when Mozilla’s HTML5 Open web platform i.e. Firefox OS came to limelight. Now ZTE Open, first device running on Firefox OS, has gone on sale in Spain. This is considered as an era where features phone are no less than any dead and at this time Mozilla’s arrival in the smartphone market especially with it’s new OS in low end devices is very smart move by the company. As per the claims by Mozilla, the Firefox OS’s openness makes it different and better than Android. Firefox OS allows its user for adding and promoting their own services without giving more power in the hands of Google. zte-open The device ZTE Open poses a 3.5-inch, HVGA TFT display along with 256MB RAM with 512MB of ROM and boasts a 3.2MP camera. As stated earlier Firefox OS runs on HTML5 and provides optimized versions of apps like Facebook and Twitter. Other local apps can also be sourced from the Firefox Marketplace on the device. The device is available at a price of just €69 along with a free 4GB microSD card. As per the reports, Mozilla is working and planning to launch a whole series of about 20 devices powered by Firefox OS and will keep those devices at a very low price. The device will soon hit the global market in a time period of about 2 months and if the claims by the company is to be believed, this new OS will be the greatest competition to Android OS.
