“The phones are rumoured to be launched by the end of 2016 or early 2017”
Reliance has tasted quite a bit of success with its LYF smartphones. While most of the devices themselves seem underwhelming for the asking prices, the fact that Jio had special exclusive preview plans on offer for LYF users meant that the former reason was ignored by one too many.
The cheapest LYF smartphone sells for as low as Rs 2,999. That’s a very decent price for a smartphone that comes with 4G VoLTE support, which is a standard across Reliance’s portfolio of devices. According to a new report, the brand is looking to grab an even bigger pool of audience by releasing VoLTE-capable feature phones that can work with Jio SIMs. And given the telco offers unlimited voice calls with the basic Rs 149 plan, this might even be a successful combo.
That said, since the feature phones are aimed at people looking for affordable options, the company might release special plans to go with the new choices. According to Gizbot, these devices will be available by the end of 2016 or early 2017, and would likely be powered by Spreadtrum 9830 processors. Do note that none of this is confirmed, and we might be in for a different surprise instead.
