Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 starts getting Android Nougat update in India

“The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is the highest selling smartphone from the brand”

The e-commerce website, Flipkart recently updated the product page of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (review) revealing that the Android Nougat update is coming soon. In addition, Xiaomi has announced that the Redmi Note 4 is now the top selling smartphone in the country now, with over five million units of the phone sold in last six months.

The device has started receiving the Nougat update in batches in India. It comes along with the July security patch with MIUI version 8.5.4, which weighs in at 1.3GB. For the time being, the update is only being pushed over the air (OTA) by the brand. It is expected that the new update will bring Nougat updates like split screen mode, quick switch apps feature, and quick reply to notifications, among others. The downside, however, is the fact that the latest Android update is still running MIUI 8.

To recap, the handset has been launched in three variants – 2GB RAM / 32GB storage, 3GB RAM / 32GB storage and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage priced at Rs 9,999, Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999, respectively.
