“Xiaomi is all set to unveil the Mi 6X in China on April 25th, which is expected to be launched as the Mi A2 in India”
Just yesterday, Xiaomi’s Senior Vice President Wang Xiang announced that the company’s next smartphone will be unveiled at an event in China on April 25th. While the brand didn’t reveal the name of the device to be revealed at the event, rumours and speculations points towards the launch of the Mi 6X. This smartphone is expected to be released as the Mi A2 in markets like India. Now 91mobiles has learned from a Xiaomi executive that the Xiaomi Mi A2 will be launched in India in May this year. Also, we’ve been informed that the Xiaomi Mi A1 (review) has been discontinued in the country.
Our source didn’t reveal the exact specs of the Xiaomi Mi A2. However, the executive did reveal that the Mi A2 will share most of its specs with the Mi 6X that was recently spotted on the Chinese certification agency TENAA’s website, and will likely be unveiled in China on April 25th. Just like the Mi A1, the Mi A2 is also expected to arrive as an Android One offering, and could run stock Android Oreo out of the box.
As per TENAA, the Mi 6X that’s coming later this month will feature an all-metal unibody design with U-shaped antenna bands. The phone could offer a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, and will likely be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor. The handset is expected to pack two primary cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and will be available in multiple RAM and storage configurations.
There’s no word regarding the price of the Xiaomi Mi 6X / Mi A2 at the moment. We should know have more details on April 25th.
