Wi-Fi tethering soon to be available on Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710

nokia_lumia_windows_phones_800_710 Nokia is planning to offer Wi-Fi tethering facility on its Lumia 800 and 710 models. Existing models of the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 will be updated soon and the soon-to-be-released Lumia 610 and Lumia 900 models sporting Windows Phone 7.5 Mango version will have the Wi-Fi feature in-built.  Microsoft had incorporated the Wi-Fi tethering feature in its Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update. However, Nokia seemed to have put off enabling this feature in its Lumia 700 and Lumia 800 series. Reliable sources have confirmed that Nokia is currently in talks with mobile phone operators to release the update enabling Wi-Fi Tethering on the Lumia smartphones. Wi-Fi tethering is a popular feature in many smartphones today. The iOS and Android operating systems- both having the largest market shares in the smartphone operating system market- have been offering this feature for some time now. In order to stay in the race and face the competition, Microsoft had included this feature in the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update. However, the responsibility to incorporate the feature ultimately lies with the handset manufacturer. The mobile phone operators had been posing as a roadblock to Nokia’s implementing the feature. All this is set to change in the next few weeks with a firmware update on the cards. In addition to the Wi-Fi tethering feature, Nokia’s upcoming firmware update (build 12070 firmware update) shall also include many other improvements including the most sought-after battery life improvement.
