Telecom giant Vodafone India has entered the prestigious Guinness World Records for facilitating uninterrupted conversation on its network for a time period of more than 24 hours. This record makes Vodafone India the first ever Indian telecom network to achieve a distinction for the superior quality of its network.
The world record was created on March 29 in Mumbai and the total number of participating people was 36. The uninterrupted telephone conversation relay took place for a total time period of 25 hours 11 minutes and 40 seconds. The call was connected on 28th March 2012 at 12 noon and the conversation simply carried on till 13:00 hours, 11 minutes and 40 seconds. Now that is pretty cool!
This unusually long continuous conversation was hosted by Mr. Jack Brockbank, a representative of Guinness World Records, who was present on site to observe and record the feat. The multinational carrier’s motive behind making this record is to prove that there are zero call drops on the Vodafone network across the country.
Sanjoy Mukerji, the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Vodafone India, said that it was a significant achievement for Vodafone. The world record gives recognition to the Vodafone team and is actually a testimony to their efforts to maintain the superior quality of the network, which is characterized by seamless connectivity, voice quality & clarity and zero call drops.
However, there are also other problems faced in mobile phone conversations, besides call drops. Vodafone should focus on eliminating those problems too, and ultimately become the mobile network of choice for Indian mobile users.
