Twitter iOS app Vine for creating short videos

Twitter has released a new app for iOS, Apple’s operating system, called Vine which allows users to shoot and share 6 second videos. Twitter had acquired the video start up Vine last year and has developed this new app for iPhone and iTouch users. The announcement was made by Twitter CEO Dick Costolo on Twitter yesterday where he showed a video demonstrating the Vine app. Keeping in line with Twitters brief messaging, the Vine will allow users to make brief, 6 second to be precise, video to share settings, ideas, people and objects of their lives. Users can take short clips in one shot or in multiple takes and convert them into a shareable digital flipbook. You can also browse other videos which are stored category wise. The app can be used by non Twitter users as well. The app can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store or directly from Vine’s homepage which provides direct link to the App Store. It is an uncomplicated app with a very simple interface. Twitter had launched an Instagram style photo service in 2011, with the Vine, it appears that the company is expanding into the multimedia avenue in a bid to tackle competition from Facebook and other social networks. Photo and video apps added, Twitter will come full circle to face competition and offer a complete communication service to its followers. Although nothing was released, the Android version of Vine is likely to appear soon is Twitter hopes to capture a greater market share globally.
