HMD Global, the licensee of the Nokia brand, has already made an entry in India with the nostalgia inducing Nokia 3310 (review). It then went on to launch its affordable Android offering in the form of the Nokia 3 (unboxing) and it was received quite well too. However, the onus of the Nokia brand’s comeback is on the Nokia 5 (first impressions) and the Nokia 6, which are scheduled to be launched in early to mid-July. The 5.2-inch Nokia 5 utilises Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 SoC, coupled with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 13MP primary snapper, an 8MP front shooter and 3,000mAh battery. The Nokia 6, on the other hand, features 5.5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP rear snapper, 8MP front shooter and 3,000mAh battery. Both smartphones come with stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with the Google Assistant baked into it. While the Nokia 5 will be an offline exclusive like its younger sibling, Nokia 6 will be sold online only.

The successor to the hugely popular Mi Max phablet is also expected to launch in the country in the coming month. The Mi Max 2 will come with the power efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4GB of RAM accompanying it. This top-end budget phablet will get the Android 7.1.1 Nougat treatment from the maker with MIUI interface running atop. The front panel of the device will be dominated by the same 6.44-inch full HD IPS display from last year. On the imaging front, the handset boasts of a 12MP snapper on rear and 5MP on the front. Also, while the profile of the handset remains on the sleeker side, the battery under the hood is actually bigger than its predecessor (5,300mAh vs 4,850mAh). With a spec sheet like this, if Xiaomi prices it under Rs 20k, the handset might become an even bigger hit than the Mi Max.
