2017 was a year that witnessed many firsts in the smartphone industry. These included major smartphone players shifting to trends like bezel-less designs, dual-cameras and face unlock. Now that the year is coming to an end, you might be wondering if there are any enticing smartphones left to look forward to. And yes, there are quite a few. Sit back as we take you through the top smartphones expected to launch in India in December 2017. 

Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Xiaomi is tasting quite a bit of success in India, owing to its lineup of impressive smartphones at jaw-dropping prices. The newest entrant is the highly affordable Xiaomi Redmi 5A, which has a plastic body with a metallic finish. The 5-incher packs a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. Moreover, the brand has also unveiled a 3GB RAM / 32GB storage variant, which is priced at Rs 6,999. Other features of the device include an IR blaster, dedicated slots for dual-SIM slots and a microSD card, and 13MP / 5MP cameras on the back and front respectively. Interestingly, even though the 2GB RAM variant of the device is priced at Rs 5,999, Xiaomi is offering a flat Rs 1,000 discount for the first 50 lakh customers. Additionally, Jio subscribers can get an additional Rs 1,000 cashback in the form of vouchers. The device is slated to go on sale starting December 7th.

Honor 7X

After being unveiled in China last month, the Honor 7X looks all set to launch in India on December 5th. The phone features an all-metal unibody design with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The fascia is dominated by a 5.93-inch full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device draws power from a HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC and 4GB of RAM. For storage, it ships with 32GB / 64GB of memory onboard which can be expanded further with the help of a microSD card. In terms of optics, the phone features a dual-camera setup consisting of 16MP and 2MP shooters. A 3,340mAh battery fuels the device, which runs on EMUI 5.1 atop Android 7.1 Nougat.

LG V30

Flagships from LG take a good couple of months to reach Indian shores. And it looks like its latest flagship, the V30, is finally going to launch in India in December. The smartphone comes with a glass and metal sandwich design with IP68 certification for protection against dust and water. The LG V30 sports an always-on 6-inch QHD+ 18:9 P-OLED display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and 4GB of RAM. The USP of the device is its pair of 16MP + 13MP rear cameras, along with a 5MP camera for shooting selfies. Other key features of the smartphone include a 32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC, fast charging, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0. The smartphone will reportedly bear a price tag of Rs 47,990.

OPPO F5 6GB Edition

OPPO has recently announced the 6GB RAM variant of its selfie-centric F5 smartphone in India. The device comes in premium red and black hues, and features an 18:9 FHD+ display that measures 6-inches diagonally. At its core, it sports a MediaTek Helio P23 processor, aided by 6GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. In terms of software, the F5 runs Android 7.1-based ColorOS 3.2 operating system. The highlight of the device is its 20MP front camera which comes with an f/2.0 aperture and a unique AI-enabled beauty mode. The fact that the device uses a 16MP rear camera also means that its front camera boasts a higher resolution than the rear camera. OPPO has priced the 6GB RAM variant of the device at Rs 24,990, with the phone slated to be made available starting December 9th.

Micromax Bharat 5

The Bharat 5 is yet another entry-level affordable VoLTE smartphone from Micromax under the Bharat series. It comes with a 5.2-inch 720p display which is capable of up to 400 nits of brightness. In terms of performance, the device is equipped with a quad-core MediaTek MT 6737 processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The camera department is taken care of by a 5MP camera on both the front and rear of the device. However, the calling card of the device is its large 5,000mAh battery, which even supports reverse charging. The phone runs Android Nougat and comes with support for 22 regional languages.
