India may be witnessing a constant increase in smartphone sales but the feature phones still form the major chunk of the mobile handset sales in the country. So in order to help make the transition from feature phones to smartphones, OEMs are launching a wide array of affordable smartphones in the country. Here’s our roundup of the best smartphones priced under the Rs 5,000 mark.

Micromax Canvas Spark (Rs 4,999)


Micromax launched its new budget offering, the Canvas Spark last month exclusively on Snapdeal. It has a 4.7-inch qHD display and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. A 1.3GHz quad-core processor powers it and it gets coupled with 1GB of RAM. There’s 8GB internal storage (expandable by up to 32GB), an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera present on the smartphone.

InFocus M2 (Rs 4,999)

Infocus M2

InFocus launched the M2 earlier this year and the device is available exclusively on Snapdeal. It offers a 4.2-inch LTPS HD display which results in a pixel density of 355ppi. The handset runs Android 4.4 KitKat and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor mated to 1GB of RAM. There’s an 8MP camera with an LED flash at the rear and an 8MP camera up front, also with an LED flash. There’s 8GB of expandable internal storage present and a 2,110mAh non-removable battery to juice it up.

Honor Bee (Rs 4,999)


Honor launched the affordable Bee smartphone recently and it is available exclusively on Flipkart. It offers a 4.5-inch WVGA display, runs Android 4.4 KitKat with Emotion UI on top and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC7731 processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and a Mali 400 GPU. It has 8GB of expandable memory, an 8MP rear camera with a dual-LED flash and a 2MP front-camera. It is juiced up by a 1,730mAh battery.

XOLO Win Q900s (Rs 4,999)

XOLO Q900s Plus

XOLO’s Windows 8.1-based Win Q900s is available for Rs 4,999 these days. It is also the lightest Windows smartphone and weighs just 100 grams. It sports a 4.7-inch HD display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor mated to 1GB of RAM. There’s 8GB of internal storage present which is expandable by 32GB. An 8MP camera with an LED flash is present at the back and a 2MP snapper is available at the front. The device is fuelled by an 1,800mAh battery.

Spice Stellar Mi-516 (Rs 4,399)

Spice 516

The Spice Stellar Mi-516 which was launched last year is now available for a much lower price now. It features a 5-inch FWVGA display, runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and has an 8MP autofocus primary camera and a 3.2MP secondary camera. There is 4GB internal storage present with a microSD card slot. There’s a 1.3GHz quad-core processor ticking inside and it gets paired with 1GB of RAM. A 2,000mAh battery juices it up.
