After the influx of Chinese brands, the segment which we earlier took as the one belonging to the mid-rangers, now sports smartphones loaded with flagship features. Powerful processors, great cameras, and big sharp screens, the devices now in this segment have it all. And the number is not limited to just a few, as the count of brands and the smartphones launched in past few months has grown exponentially. Since there are a lot of options to choose from, we’ve shortened the list to the top five devices you can get under Rs 25,000.
Honor 7 (Rs 22,999)
The Honor 7 is the flagship from the brand and is one of the most loaded options you can get in this price segment. The smartphone rocks a full-metal unibody design, a 5.2-inch full HD display and a fingerprint sensor. Equipped with a 20MP rear camera assisted by a dual-tone LED flash on the back, the Honor 7 sports an 8-megapixel front facing shooter, which also comes aided by an LED flash. There’s a customisable button called Smart Key as well, which can be configured to perform different functions. The phone sports 3GB of RAM, USB OTG capabilities and supports 4G too.
OnePlus 2 (Rs 24,999)
The successor to the flagship killer OnePlus One, the OnePlus 2 also sports a metal frame and a fingerprint scanner. The phone falls in the phablet category with its 5.5-inch FHD display. Its powerful octa-core Snapdragon processor comes paired with 4GB of RAM. There’s a 13MP rear camera along with a 5MP front cam for self portraits. The OnePlus 2 supports dual-SIM configuration and runs OxygenOS, based on Android Lollipop v5.1.1. The 64GB inbuilt storage on the phone is not expandable.
ASUS Zenfone 2 Deluxe (Rs 22,999)
The ASUS Zenfone 2 Deluxe is the jazzed-up version of its sibling, the Zenfone 2, which was the world’s first smartphone to sport 4GB of RAM. The Zenfone 2 Deluxe comes with a 3D textured back panel which sports reflecting facets. As a result, the back panel changes colour when tilted. The Zenfone 2 Deluxe is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor mated to 4GB of RAM. The 5.5-inch 1,080p display of the device comes protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The camera department is equipped with a 13MP primary camera complemented by a dual-colour LED flash, and a 5MP front snapper. The dual-SIM handset also offers 4G connectivity.
Samsung Galaxy A7 (Rs 21,799)
One of the slimmest smartphones from the brand, the Samsung Galaxy A7 is a stylish-looking device. The 4G-enabled smartphone rocks a metal frame. The Galaxy A7 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display and hides a Snapdragon 615 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM under its hood. The camera configuration is standard with a 13MPshooter at the back and a 5-meg snapper on the front. Software-wise, the A7 runs the dated Android KitKat v4.4.4 layered with Touchwiz out of the box.

Motorola Moto X Play, 32GB (Rs 19,999)
The more affordable of the two flagships Motorola launched this year, the Moto X Play is a phablet, sporting 5.5-inches of full HD screen space. The X Play is splash proof as it comes with a nano coating. Running stock Android Lollipop 5.0, the smartphone comes with features like Moto Assist and Moto Display to take the experience up a notch. The primary camera can shoot images at 21 megapixels and is assisted by a dual-LED flash. There’s a 5MP front facing shooter as well. The 4G enabled dual-SIM Moto X Play comes backed by a 3,630mAh battery.
