Tikona will be launching its 4G services in Ahmedabad and Surat in Gujarat by the middle of next year with per MB price range of 10 to 25 paisa. In the first phase they have plans of rolling out this high-speed Internet service to ten cities in Gujarat, Rajasthan, UP-East, UP-West and Himachal Pradesh. Heramb Ranade, chief marketing officer of the company, remarked that they have decided to introduce their 4G offers first in Gujarat and then follow it up in the remaining 10 cities spread over 5 circles that they have won for the spectrum. He further added that Tikona expected the price range of 10 to 25 paise per MB and as currently there is inadequate affordable LTE devices they would at first concentrate on serving home brand solutions and data card. 4G services would be based upon the TDD LTE technology, which is used by Airtel in Kolkata, Benguluru and Pune. Similar technology is also used by Reliance Industries Limited. The chief officer further commented that the company did not find necessary to enter the content side as it is totally a separate industry. Moreover, no operator can match the scale or variety of the content part and Tikona see itself as a data pipeline provider and would concentrate on it strictly. As per the guidelines of government all 4G Internet service providers in the country need to cover 100 per cent of urban areas and 50 percent of the rural parts by year 2015 in their respective circles.
