Supreme Court cancels 122 2G licenses of telecom operators

Coming as a bold move, Supreme court of India cancelled a total of 122 2G licenses of 5 telecom operators. Supreme court has also dismissed a petition to probe the home minister P.Chidambaram with respect to the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Looks like the telecom operators are the victims of the scam propogated by some one else.

So, supreme court has cancelled licenses across many circles. The cancelled licenses include 9 of IDEA Cellular, 22 of Uninor, 21 of Videocon, 21 of Loop Telecom, 9 of Swann Telecom, 3 of Tata Teleservices. These telecom firms are allowed to operate at the circles for another four months at market rate. Post 4 months, fresh licenses will be issued based on the guidelines provided by TRAI.
