Spice may launch its 5-inch Phablet by Diwali [update – by 27 Sep]

——————— Update – We have received another update from Spice which indicates that the Spice MI-500 Stellar Horizon may be launched by this Thursday i.e. 27th Sep. That’s too close, isn’t it. Be with us for further updates. ——————– Spice announced its 5-inch flagship Spice MI-500 Stellar Horizon back in June, even before the Micromax A100, Andi iBall 5c or any other Indian phablet. However, we are yet to see this mobile hitting the shelves. People waiting for its release finally ended up buying Micromax A100. If user’s reviews are to be believed, buyers of Micromax A100 aren’t quite happy. First it arrived with Single core processor, then the mobile OS has a number of bugs and the touch screen performance is also disappointing. So the Spice Stellar Horizon is still a ray of hope for the phablet seekers. There’s still no clarity over the exact launch date, however, there’s a good chance that this smartphone-cum-tablet combo will hit the stores before Diwali. Which means we can expect its arrival by the mid of November. “The launch of Spice Stellar Horizon is in process and it will reach the market before the upcoming festive season. And instead of Android 2.3 it will be launched with Android 4.0 onboard” A Spice official says to 91mobiles. Just to recap, Spice MI – 500 Stellar Horizon is a smart phone tablet combo with following specs:

  • 5.0, 480X800 pixels, Inches Capacitive Touchscreen
  • Android 4.0
  • Dual core 1GHz processor, 512 MB Ram
  • 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB
  • 5.0 MP camera with Autofocus and LED flash
  • 0.3 MP front camera
  • 2150 mAH li-ion battery
There was no word on pricing of mobile, but depending on the pricing of other Phablets, we assume it to be somewhere around 11k.
