Sony is on its way to get huge revenue from the sale of its Xperia series of smartphones in the Indian market. The Japanese tech giant is expected to reap a benefit of around Rs. 3,500 crore from its Indian sales in the next financial year. Sony made a huge leap in its sales strategy with the launch of its Xperia Z smartphone, priced at Rs. 38,990 for the Indian Smartphone market. The company announced that the Xperia Z is a water proof smartphone and Sony is starting its aggressive marketing strategy with its launch. Sony Xperia Z has a 5 inch full high definition visual display with an 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera. It is powered by Android 4.1 and features quad core processors and 2GB RAM. Xperia Z features 5” Full HD 1080p BRAVIA 2 Reality Display, Snapdragon™ S4 Pro quad-core processor, 13 megapixel fast-capture Cyber-Shot camera and 4G LTE. “In addition to an exciting and extensive print and electronic advertising campaign with Xperia Brand Ambassador – Katrina Kaif, Sony India will also launch outdoor campaign, enhance shop-front display and have roadshows in Malls on a pan India basis. Cinema and digital platforms will also play a key role in the marketing campaign”, Mr. Hibi added. Sony claims that its latest smartphone is both waterproof and dustproof and the company’s managing director, India, Kenichiro Hibi said that the launch of Sony Xperia Z is the start of the company’s journey to triple the Xperia sales in India, to Rs 3,500 crore in fiscal year 2013. The Sony Xperia Z comes with big hopes and promises and in the Indian market would compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy series, Apple iPhones and the Nokia Lumia series. India’s smartphone market has witnessed a growth of around 98% and the market is expected to sell around 33 million units by next year.
