With a 10.1 inch display bearing a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels, the device is all set to take on the iPad range from Apple. The Xperia Z tablet runs on Android 4.1 JellyBean operating system and is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core processor with 2GB of RAM, far outstripping the iPad 2.

The device will be available in 16GB and 32GB internal storage capacity options. The memory can be expanded up to 64 GB via micro SD card externally on both versions.

The device sports an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, NFC, front surround 3D, Bluetooth and much more. The tablet runs on a powerful 6000 mAh battery.

Beside being waterproof, the Xperia Z, like its namesake smartphone, is dustproof, making it the toughest tablets available in the market. Also, it takes home the title of being the “World’s thinnest tablet” at 6.9mm width.

Another interesting feature on this device is the IR Blaster which works with TV SideView, which is a Sony app, to browse the program guide content, what is airing currently and also swiping the selected content onto the TV.

This tablet is the latest edition of the Xperia S series, and promises a lot with its powerful features, tough body and ultra slim size. The two versions will be priced at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version and $599 for the 32GB version. The Xperia Z tablet is likely to appear in the market sometime soon in the coming months, though nothing concrete has been revealed.
