After the successful launch of the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, Sony seems to be gearing up with a new 1080p display smartphone device, which is being referred to by the model number C670X. The Xperia Z’s model number is C660X, so it can be safely assumed that this device will be an upgrade for the Xperia Z.
The rumor about the latest Full HD device was leaked on the XperiaBlog, which has leaked details of numerous upcoming Sony handsets and has a good track record.
As per the specs mentioned on the site, the C670X will have Android 4.2 Jellybean operating system and is expected have a 4.8-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 pixels full HD resolution. It will be powered by a powerful 1.8GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (APQ8064T) SoC processor with 2GB of RAM and will also have a Adreno 320 GPU.
The device will have 32GB internal memory and will have memory expansion option via micro SD card. The device will feature a 13 MP rear camera based on the Exmor RS sensor, similar to the one on Xperia Z and is likely to have HDR video recording capabilities.
According to the blog site, the phone is expected to be launched sometime in the middle of 2013.
Going by the specifications mentioned above, the C670X seems to be very similar to the Xperia Z and ZL in terms of its design as well. The images leaked on the web show a body similar to the Xperia Z and ZL, but its is to be seen if it will have the same aluminum shell.
However, this cannot be confirmed, as the device appears to be a generic Xperia model placed to represent the speculated device.
