Sony launches Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R full frame mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses

Sony has launched two new full frame mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras dubbed as Sony Alpha 7 and Sony Alpha 7R. The photo junkies can brace themselves with something big here because Sony has finally announced these two highly anticipated mirrorless cameras. These cameras look pretty close to Sony’s NEX cameras in the terms of design and size but come with huge full frame sensors along with high-end interchangeable lenses.

Features wise, Sony Alpha 7R offers a 36.4MP full frame Exmor CMOS sensor without a low pass optical filter which results in improved details & resolving power. On the other hand, Sony Alpha 7 offers a more modest 24.3MP full frame 35MM Exmor CMOS sensor. It comes with Hybrid AF system which allows simultaneous AF lock in phase detection and contrast detection modes.

Both of the new cameras from Sony share a lot of features. There is Bionz X Image processor and dust & moisture resistance in the new cameras. They come with fast auto focus with 4 and 5FPS continuously shooting. These devices offer a 3inch LCD tilt-able display and are able to record full HD AVCHD quality videos at 60 frames per second. Sony Alpha 7R is aimed at the pro photographers and priced at $2300 for body-only. While, the Sony Alpha 7 is priced at $1700 for body-only and both of the new cameras will be available to buy beginning December 2013.

Apart from this, Sony has also launched a new range of lenses to go along with the newly launched cameras. Company has launched total 5 new full frame lenses and they will be available to buy beginning later this month.
