The Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi has confirmed that it is also going to launch a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset powered variant of its flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi3. Company stated that the new version of the phone will be having support for 3G WCDMA network and it will arrive sometime around December 2013.
Xiaomi Mi3 is one of the most powerful smartphones in the world at the moment. It was originally launched in September this year with powerful NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor for excellent gaming performance. However, the processor in the phone was only compatible with China’s 3G TD-SCDMA network. Thankfully, right from the start, Xiaomi has promised that a Snapdragon 800 chipset powered version of the flagship smartphone will also arrive soon.
Something special to be noted here is that, it is not the standard Snapdragon 800 we’re talking about, but rather an alternative, much higher-powered version of the Qualcomm’s beast. Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB chipset powering the phone is really more beefy in pretty much all aspect – you will get higher CPU, LPDDR3 clocks and GPU.
Other features of the Snapdragon variant of the Xiaomi will be pretty much same including, 5 inch LCD display with massive 441ppi density, 2 GB RAM, 13 MP rear & 2 MP front facing cameras, 16 GB & 64 GB storage models and a massive 3050 mAh battery. NVIDIA and Xiaomi have already celebrated the huge success of the Tegra 4 processor powered version of the phone. “The MI3 super phone powered by Tegra 4. The first 100 000 units sold out in 86 seconds. Subsequent production builds of 200 000 also sold out within minutes,” said, Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO NVIDIA. Xiaomi hasn’t yet planned to introduce this powerful beast in global markets. So, if you are having desire to buy one, you will have to obtain a unit from a reseller.
