“The Samsung Galaxy Watch will be released in India in the near future”

Samsung has introduced its latest smartwatch dubbed the Galaxy Watch in India. The company took the wraps off the device at the Galaxy Note9 (review)’s launch event that was held in the country earlier today. The new Galaxy Watch — the first with the Galaxy branding — comes as a successor to the Gear S3 that was launched last year.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch features a Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 pixels resolution. The smartwatch comes in two variants of 46mm and 42mm sizes, with both offering standalone LTE connectivity. The 46mm Galaxy Watch employs a 1.3-inch screen and a 473mAh battery, which is said to offer 80 hrs of battery life. The 42mm watch model sports a 1.2-inches screen and 270mAh battery that promises a battery life of up to 45 hours.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 2

For fitness tracking, the Samsung Galaxy Watch offers 39 workout modes to ensure a wearer’s different daily activities are tracked by the wearable. The smartwatch sports NFC connectivity and supports Samsung pay. Software-wise, the accessory boots Tizen OS 4.0, and gets support for Bixby, Samsung Health, Samsung Flow, and Samsung Knox. Other features include water-resistant and military-grade durability, and connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, and A-GPS / GLONASS. The sensors onboard include an accelerometer, gyro, barometer, HRM, and an ambient light sensor. 

Samsung hasn’t yet revealed the pricing and availability details of the Galaxy Watch for India. However, the brand did announce that the wearable will be available in Rose Gold, Silver, and Midnight Black colour variants.
