“The Galaxy A9 Pro sports a Snapdragon 652 SoC, 32GB of storage, 16MP/8MP cameras, and a fingerprint sensor”

Samsung has added a new member to its Galaxy A family in India in the form of the Galaxy A9 Pro. It is a high-end phablet that was originally unveiled in China in March. The phone sports an appealing metallic frame and glass back panel like its predecessor, the Galaxy A9, which was unveiled in December last year, but is yet to land in India.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro flaunts a large 6-inch (15.24cm) full HD Super AMOLED display, and boots Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The phone utilises a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM.  The storage capacity on board is 32GB, which can be further expanded up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card.

The camera department on the Galaxy A9 Pro includes a 16-megapixel optically-stabilised primary shooter with f/1.9 aperture, autofocus, and an LED flash. Selfies are captured by an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter that also gets f/1.9 aperture, and features like Wide Selfie, Palm Selfie, and Beauty Face. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, ANT+, and NFC. The phablet also gets a fingerprint sensor, which is integrated into its home button.

The device is backed by a beefy 5,000mAh battery, which promises up to 32.5 hours of talk time, up to 26 hours of video playback, and up to 22.5 days of standby time. It also supports fast charging, which can charge the battery from zero to 100 percent in around 2.7 hours. Charging it for 30 minutes can give you up to 32 percent charge.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro comes in three hues – Gold, Black and White. The phone has been priced at Rs 32,490, and will be available via major brick-and-mortar stores across the country from September 26th. At this price, the Galaxy A9 Pro will face stiff competition from the likes of the Xiaomi Mi Max (review), which offers a bigger 6.4-inch (16.4cm) display, a Snapdragon 652 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a fingerprint sensor, and a 4,850mAh battery but is priced much lower at Rs 19,999.
