Reliance Jio becomes India’s fourth-largest telecom operator

“Reliance Jio’s subscriber’s base hit 10.86 crore on March 31st”

According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio is now the fourth-largest telecom operator in the country. The emerging telco’s subscriber base hit 10.86 crore at the end of March 31st this year, resulting in a market share of 9.29 percent.

TRAI’s data reveals that Jio’s total subscriber count was 10.2 crore in February. The brand added 58 lakh additional subscribers in one month with its Prime membership plan and other promotional offers. Jio said that as of March 31st, 7.2 crore of its subscribers had subscribed to Prime.

As per the report, Bharti Airtel remained India’s biggest carrier with 27.3 crore subscribers in March. The company had a market share of 23.39 percent in March. The Airtel and Telenor merger also contributed to this figure, as it added the latter’s subscribers base.

Vodafone’s market share in March was 17.87 percent, Idea’s was 16.70 percent, BSNL’s at 8.63 percent, and Aircel’s at 7.77 percent.
