Oscar-winner A R Rahaman has consistently been the most downloaded Indian artist on Ovi Music Store in India, shares Nokia. The company shared interesting trends on legal digital music consumption in India. These trends have been observed across several music categories on its Ovi Music services since the time of its launch last year. According to the company, Shakira, with her official World Cup song Waka Waka, was the most downloaded international artist for the year not only in India but for Ovi Music Store globally. However, India was the top downloading country for Shakira, accounting for 25% of all global downloads. Bollywood as a genre registered the highest number of downloads followed by ‘pop’ and ‘rock’ music respectively, the company reports. Speaking about these interesting music trends, Jasmeet Gandhi, head services marketing, Nokia India, said, “Music is an intrinsic part of the Indian society and we offer music for every age, gender, mood and situation. While the most downloaded playback singers were Rahet Fateh Ali Khan and Mamta Sharma. Amongst the Music Directors Pritam scored the highest on popularity charts.
