“The Eluga Ray 500 brings dual cameras and a massive 4,000mAh battery under Rs 10,000”

The Japanese handset maker, Panasonic is betting big on the budget segment in the Indian handset market. After launching a slew of devices in the Eluga series, it’s now expanding the range with the launch of new Eluga Ray smartphones. The latest offerings bring premium features in the affordable segment. Of the two devices launched, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 has been designed for those who have the penchant for photography but not necessarily the budget for high-end smartphones with powerful cameras.

To deliver an unparalleled imaging experience in the VFM segment, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 comes with a pair of cameras at the back. Yes, the dual-camera setup is usually available in pricier smartphones, but the phone is offering it at a budget price point. The module comprises a 13-megapixel primary shooter accompanied by an 8MP snapper. While the 13MP unit works like a regular camera, it’s the 8-megapixel shooter which is a real deal as it’s a 120-degree ultra-wide angle unit, which helps in capturing in wide landscape images. The camera interface also makes it extremely easy to switch to the wide-angle mode instantly. Interestingly, most smartphones that boast dual cameras only offer RGB + monochrome setup, which doesn’t give as much benefit as the wide-angle camera, which lets you click a wider frame. The Eluga Ray 500 takes care of your selfie needs as well, with a 5-megapixel snapper at the front.

Speaking of pictures, there is no point having a powerful camera onboard if the display cannot do justice to the colours and details captured. For that, Panasonic has equipped the Eluga Ray 500 with a 5-inch On-Cell IPS display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. Needless to say that the image clarity and sharpness on the display is not compromised under any condition. Moving on to the performance, the handset comes with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.25GHz and mated to 3GB of RAM. This means that it’ll offer a smooth performance and a lag-free multitasking experience. You don’t have to worry about storing your multimedia files or install multiple apps either, since the device features 32GB of expandable memory.

On the software side of things, the Eluga Ray 500 ships with Android Nougat. However, its highlight is Arbo AI, which learns from one’s behaviour and usage pattern to suggest apps and tasks basis time and situation. It also lets you do system-related tasks quickly.

While the handset does promise all work and all play with the new Panasonic Eluga Ray 500, it doesn’t mean much if the battery is not able to sustain to one’s needs. However, that is not the case with the phone as it comes with a beefy 4,000mAh battery. Moreover, the battery supports fast charging, which means as long as it takes to exhaust the juice, it charges twice as fast. That’s not all, the handset also flaunts a fingerprint scanner hidden underneath the home button for enhanced security. Along with letting you unlock the smartphone, it also lets you go back to the previous screen with a single touch.

So if you have so much to do and want a smartphone that can help you accomplish every single task with ease, the Panasonic Eluga ray 500 is the way to go.
