OPPO has been a pioneer in the smartphone industry, especially when it comes to imaging. It brought the world’s first swivel camera setup with the N1, which was refined further on the N3 to offer motorised rotation and most recently, it introduced AI smarts in the front camera with AI Beautification technology. With its latest launch however, the brand is pulling out all the stops, so much so that we believe that the OPPO Find X is leading both the camera tech and the smartphone industry into the future. If you’re wondering why we think so, then read on.

Bleeding-edge stealth cameras

OPPO Find X camera

One look at the OPPO Find X is enough to warrant your attention, and that’s because the phone has two seamless slabs of glass on the front and rear panel. Now you must be wondering that the phone misses out on cameras, but that isn’t the case. The company has managed to cram the dual cameras on the rear and a front shooter in a single sliding mechanism on the top of the smartphone. This is enabled with a motorised section with a linear actuator in the middle, which allows the module to silently slide up and down every time the camera is turned on.

The slide-out cameras aren’t just a gimmick

The first thought that comes to one’s mind about the OPPO Find X would be… it looks cool, but what about durability? Well, to ensure that the mechanism works reliably, the brand is offering a fall protection system, which is designed to protect the device in case you drop it with the camera slid out. Additionally, the sliding mechanism has passed through an extensive durability test, where it was opened and closed over 3,00,000 times, as per the brand. This should squash any doubts about the mechanism failing over a prolonged duration, since it also opens up every time you have to unlock the smartphone…

An advanced 3D face unlock system

The pop-out mechanism on the OPPO Find X also packs the 3D face recognition module. As per the brand, its latest offering is the first Android smartphone to come with 3D Structured Light Technology, which utilises an array of sensors including a flood illuminator, infrared camera, ranging sensor, dot projector, receiver and the front camera for secure authentication. The face unlock module on the Find X uses 18,000 facial dot recognition and intelligent analysis to offer 20 times safer unlocking than fingerprint authentication method. Even with the slide-out functionality, the smartphone unlocks in a jiffy.

Dual rear cameras with AI capabilities

Well, the full-screen OPPO Find X is surely a head-turner, but what matters at the end of the day is the image quality. And the smartphone doesn’t disappoint in this aspect either as it’s equipped with a pair of 16MP and 20MP cameras on the rear. The main shooter comes with an f/2.0 aperture and optical image stabilisation to ensure blur-free photos and videos. The secondary camera on the other hand, has an aperture of f/2.2. The dual-camera setup also offers excellent depth-of-field effect with the subject in focus and the background being nicely blurred. The highlight however, is the AI Scene Recognition technology, which detects over 21 scenes to deliver the best output, without you needing to fiddle around with any settings.

Living up to The Selfie Expert tag, the OPPO Find X flaunts a high-res 25MP shooter on the front. But it isn’t just any other sensor. Dubbed 3D Camera, the module analyses facial features like face, nose, etc. to offer natural-looking selfies. The camera also comes with 3D lighting which enables artistic portraits with studio-like conditions.

That’s not all, the OPPO Find X is loaded to the brim with top-of-the-line hardware as well. The smartphone comes with a 6.42-inch 19.5:9 AMOLED full HD+ display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The processor is further backed by 8GB RAM and beefy 256GB storage. The handset boots ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Powering the entire show is a 3,730mAh battery, which comes with VOOC fast charging support. For connectivity, the phone offers 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS, and USB Type-C.

With a futuristic design, powerful cameras and top-notch internals, the OPPO Find X stands out in more ways than one. The smartphone is being offered in Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue colours, and will set you back by Rs 59,990. It’s slated for pre-orders in India starting July 25th and will go on sale starting August 3rd. So what are you waiting for?
