OPPO A79 leaked render reveals an 18:9 display and all-metal design

“The OPPO A79 will be a mid-range offering with a 6.01-inch full HD+ display”

Earlier in October, OPPO unveiled the F5 (first impressions) as its first smartphone with an 18:9 display in the Philippines. The phone arrived as a mid-range offering with an all-screen front. Now it appears that the company is working on yet another mid-range 18:9  smartphone called the OPPO A79. Ahead of the unveiling, the phone was spotted on the Chinese certification agency TENAA’s website. Now, the device’s alleged press render has been leaked on the interwebs.

The leaked render suggests that the OPPO A79 will feature a design identical to the OPPO F5. The phone will come with almost no bezels on both the sides and minimal bezels on the top and bottom. The top bezel will house the front-facing camera, the earpiece and the ambient light sensor. The device will come with a premium metal unibody design and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone’s antenna bands will be located at the edges of the rear. The image also reveals that the handset will come with a micro-USB 3.0 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device is expected to measure 7.2mm around the waist, and tip the scales at 140 grams.

According to the earlier listing on TENAA, the OPPO A79 will feature a 6.01-inch full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone will be powered by a MediaTek Helio X23 processor, mated to 4GB of RAM. The device will come with 64GB of storage, which will be further expandable via a microSD card. The handset is expected to feature a 16-megapixel camera at both the front and rear. It will boot Android Nougat out of the box, and will be fuelled by a 2,900mAh battery.

According to the rumour mill, the OPPO A79 will be priced around RMB 2,399 (~Rs
23,700). If the reports are to be believed, the phone will be unveiled at an event in China on November 30th.
