“The OnePlus 6 is the first smartphone from the brand to come with a notched display”
A lot has been said about the OnePlus 6 and the flagship has been subjected to a ton of rumours in last few months. The handset maker announced recently that the phone will be launched globally on May 16th in London and then in India and China on May 17th. The most anticipated day is finally here as the brand took to the stage today to unveil the flagship for all to see.
The OnePlus 6 comes with a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with screen resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The display has an aspect ratio of 19:9 to accommodate the notch on top, which can be enabled and disabled from the settings. The performance department on the handset is handled by the top-tier Snapdragon 845 processor backed by Adreno 630 GPU. The brand is offering the smartphone in two RAM options – 6GB and 8GB, with 64GB and 128GB built-in storage. The brand has also announced a Limited Edition Silk White variant of the OnePlus 6.
In the imaging department, the OnePlus 6 comes with a 16-megapixel f/1.7 primary camera accompanied by a 20-megapixel f/1.7 secondary lens on the rear panel. The camera module is capable of recording 4K videos as well as the super slow motion mode at 240 frames per second and 480 frames per second. Impressively, OnePlus 6 allows users to shoot a video for around a minute and then choose the section that you want in slow-mo. For selfies and video calling, the handset features a 16-megapixel f/2.0 camera on the front panel. Out of the box, the flagship runs OxygenOS based on the Android 8.1 Oreo. A 3,300mAh battery with support for Dash Charging keeps the lights on for the smartphone. As for the connectivity, it offers USB Type-C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, GLONASS and 4G LTE. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well as the face unlock technology for security.
The brand is offering the OnePlus 6 in three hues – Midnight Black, Mirror Black, and a limited edition Silk White. As for the pricing, the 6GB + 64GB variant is priced at €519 (~Rs 41,500), the 8GB + 128GB variant at €569 (~Rs 45,500), and the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant at €619 (~Rs 49,500). The Midnight Black and Mirror Black will be made available for purchase starting May 22nd and the Silk White variant will be made available starting June 5th.
