OnePlus 6 to launch in Q2 this year with Snapdragon 845, company confirms

The OnePlus 6 is expected to be launched at the end of Q2 2018

OnePlus recently launched its latest flagship, theOnePlus 5T (review). Yesterday, the companylaunched the Lava Red edition of the handset in India. The company’s CEO, Pete Lau, has now revealed to CNET thatthe upcoming OnePlus 6 will be released latein Q2 of this year. The brand hadlaunchedthe OnePlus 5 (review) in June last year, and the next flagship is expected to follow a similar timeline.

As for the specifications of the next OnePlus flagship,Lau only confirmed that the device wouldbe equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor.When asked aboutthe OnePlus 6T, Lau mentioned that the brand is not yet certain whether there will be a second launch this year.

In his interview, Lau also revealed that the brand is considering launching its smartphone through local carriers in US. To this measure, OnePlus will soon begin talks with major wireless operators in country. However, the top executive didnt confirm whether this years launch will come through US carriers.

To recap on the OnePlus 5T, it ships with a 6.01-inch 18:9 Optic AMOLED display panel with FHD+ resolution. Powering the deviceis a Snapdragon 835 SoC, mated to 6GB or 8GB RAM, and 64GB or 128GB storage respectively. For imaging, it gets a 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel camera module on the rear panel and a 16-megapixel camera for selfies. It boots the Android Nougat based Oxygen OS, and is powered by a 3,300mAh battery with Dash Charging support.

The OnePlus 5T is being soldin India at Amazon India and OnePlus e-store, with the 6GB RAM model priced atRs 32,999 and the 8GB variant costingRs 37,999. The recently launched Lava Red Edition is only available in the 8GB variant and is priced the same. On the other hand, the Star Wars Edition 5T has been priced slightly higher than the regular OnePlus 5T, and retails for Rs 38,999 in an 8GB + 128GB configuration.
