The nubia Z17s has been the subject of a number of leaks and reports lately. Now putting a stop on the rumours, the company has officially unveiled the flagship at an event in its home market of China. The nubia Z17s comes as the brand’s first almost bezel-free smartphone. In addition to the Z17s, the company has also launched the nubia Z17miniS at the event, which is a mid-range offering with a regular display. They are the brand’s first smartphones to boast four cameras – two on the front and two at the rear.
The nubia Z17s flaunts a 5.73-inch display bearing a resolution of 2,040 x 1,080 pixels, a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass and a pixel density of 403ppi. There are no bezels on the two sides of the screen, but the top and bottom bezels have slim bezels. nubia claims the device has a screen-to-body ratio of 90.36 percent. The device has a curved back panel and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Coming to the imaging department, the dual camera setup of the nubia Z17s includes a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, Dual Pixel autofocus and NeoVision 7.0 image engine, aided by a secondary 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. For selfies, the device is fitted with two 5-megapixel cameras offering f/2.2 aperture, portrait mode and 79.9-degree wide-angle self-portraits. The phone is also equipped with AI portrait 2.0 technology to enhance your photos.
As for the other specs, the nubia Z17s is powered by a 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, mated to Adreno 540 graphics. The device comes in two RAM and storage configurations – 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB. The handset supports global LTE networks, and comes with connectivity options like dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, USB Type-C and A-GPS. Software-wise, it boots Android 7.1 Nougat with nubia UI v5.1. A 3,100mAh battery with NeoCharge 2.5 technology completes the list of the specs.
As for the nubia Z17miniS, the phone features two 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 sensors at the rear – one RGB and one monochrome, aided by f/2.2 aperture and NeoVision 7.0. In the front, it gets a 16MP primary snapper with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP secondary shooter with f/2.2 aperture. Design-wise, it offers a 3D curved glass back panel and a fingerprint sensor that’s embedded into its home button.
Coming to the other specs, the nubia Z17miniS features a 5.2-inch full HD display with a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor, mated to Adreno 510 graphics and 6GB of RAM. The storage capacity on board is 64GB, further expandable via a microSD card slot. The other specs include Android 7.1 Nougat with nubia UI v5.1, 4G LTE, a 3,200mAh battery and Smart PA audio amplifier.
As for the pricing, the 6GB / 64GB nubia Z17s has been priced at RMB 2,999 (~Rs 29,600), while the 8GB / 128GB model will set you back by RMB 3,999 (~Rs 39,500). The nubia Z17miniS is being offered for RMB 1,999 (~Rs 19,700) for Black Gold and Deep Blue hues. There’s a special Blue edition of the Z17miniS that will be available for RMB 2,099 (~Rs 20,700). They will go on sale in China across channels starting October 19th.
