Adding a new member to the Lumia family, Nokia has launched the Lumia 520 in the Indian smartphone market. Priced at Rs. 10,500, the Nokia Lumia 520 is the most affordable Windows 8 smartphone available in the market.
The much awaited Lumia 520 was expected to hit the Indian store shelves with a price tag within a price range of Rs. 12,000 – 13,000 but by launching it at a price of Rs. 10,500, the Finnish handset maker has scored high with their Indian fans. The innovative Windows Phone 8 operating system based device will be available for sale a week later but online retailer Flipkart has already listed it on its website at a price of Rs. 10,499 and is taking pre-orders with free home delivery offer.
Nokia had showcased the Lumia 520 at the Mobile World Congress 2013 held at Barcelona last month. Its availability in the market so early after its debut at MWC is a great service the company is rendering, as those awaiting the device entry in the market won’t have to wait too long to lay their hands on it.
The Lumia 520 spots a 4-inch IPS Capacitive super-sensitive display screen. It gets powered with 1GHz Dual-Core Krait Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. It boasts a 5MP Rear shooter accompanied by 8GB of onboard storage expandable up to 64GB. Other features included in the spec sheet of the device include 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, USB, Bluetooth and 1430 mAh battery.
Nokia has officially announced that it will be launching the Lumia 720 smartphone by the end of April. In such a scenario, it becomes quite difficult for the buyers to choose between the affordable Lumia 520 and the pricier Lumia 720. We assume the budget and pricing of the two siblings will work as a deciding factor for the buyers.
