“The Nokia 6 2nd-gen model comes with slightly upgraded design and a better processor”
[Update: January 5th, 2018]: Nokia has now officially launched the Nokia 6 (2018) in China. The phone’s pre-registrations are open, and it will go on sale in the country starting January 10th.
Launched in January last year, the Nokia 6(review) was HMD Global’s first smartphone, which arrived as a mid-range offering. Now, almost exactly a year later, the Nokia 6’s 2nd-gen variant has been listed on a Chinese retailer’s website, complete with specs, images and pricing details. While the device has appeared on a third-party website, it seems to be official.
The Nokia 6 (2018) model comes with a slightly different design and upgraded innards. Contrary to several leaks and reports, the new Nokia 6 doesn’t feature an 18:9 display. The phone has received upgrades in the processor and RAM department, while the rest of its specs are more or less similar to its predecessor.

The Nokia 6 second-gen features a slightly different design than its predecessor. While the original Nokia 6’s fingerprint sensor was integrated into its home button up front, its successor gets the same at the rear. The phone comes in black and white variants with golden trims running around the edges, camera setup and fingerprint scanner. Software-wise, it boots Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, and will be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update in the coming months.
Coming to the other specs, the Nokia 62nd-gen sports a 5.5-inch full HD display, just like its predecessor. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, as compared to the Snapdragon 430 found on its predecessor. The device comes with 4GB of RAM, and will be available in two storage configurations: 32GB and 64GB.
The camera department of the new Nokia 6 remains the same as its predecessor. The phone comes with a 16-megapixel primary snapper and an 8-megapixel secondary shooter, both featuring an aperture of f/2.0. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, USB Type-C, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS. A 3,000mAh battery completes the list of the specs.
As for the pricing, the listing says that the Nokia 6 (2018)s 32GB model will be available for RMB 1,499 (~Rs 14,600), while the 64GB variant will retail for RMB 1,699 (~Rs 16,600). As of now, there’s no word when the phone will go on sale. We will update you regarding its availability as soon as the company officiallyunveils the phone.
