Samsung went on to clarify that these devices lack the necessary hardware such as RAM and ROM to withstand the demands of icecream Sandwich when combined with Samsung’s touchwiz interface. Samsung Galaxy S comes with 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and a minimum of 8GB internal storage. However, similar device such as Samsung Nexus S has been already upgraded to icecream Sandwich. When probed samsung clarified that Samsung Nexus S runs a pure version of Android OS while the Galaxy S runs a customized version of Android with touchWiz UI and carrier specific additions. These customizations and additions have made the Samsung Galaxy S handset non-eligible for the update! Samsung Galaxy S owners should be happy with the gingerbread version or should upgrade to the next generation device when they feel the need to upgrade!
