Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd, also known as MTS, has rolled out a new service named mPOS, which would provide the advantage of accepting card-based payments via handsets as well as tabs. Telecommunication firm also stated that the novel service would be a mobile alternate to the existing credit or debit card swipe machines. The overall package comprising MTS MTag 3.1, mobile card payment service connection along with 1 year data plan would be valued between Rs 3,000 and Rs 4,000. The normal expenditures on utilization would stand around Rs 200 and Rs 300 on a monthly basis. The firm has announced a pilot project with e-commerce retail merchants such as Flipkart.com and Yebhi.com in which MTS would offer up MTS MTag 3.1 smartphones and the data services needed. The company proposes to launch this service all over the country in the coming time. The company added that the newly launched service will really be advantageous for retail merchants, home delivery based service models such as e-commerce participants, food chains, pizza delivery centers and firms into direct sales model like FMCG, Insurance firms etc. As per reports by IAMAI and Frost & Sullivan, Indian mCommerce business is pegged at Rs. 400 crore and it is likely to hit Rs.2000 crore by the next three years. The reports also hint that there are around 35 million mCommerce users crosswise India. In addition, this service lessens the high hardware prices of a conventional POS terminal & the monthly maintenance charges involved.
