“The Infinity series from the brand will bring bezel-less displays to the affordable segment”
One of the most popular trends that caught on this year has to be the Infinity displays with bezel-less form factors, first introduced by the likes of the LG G6 (review) and Samsung Galaxy S8 / Galaxy S8 Plus (review). It was only a matter of time before other brands followed suit and now it seems that Micromax is joining the bandwagon.
Micromax has been teasing the new Infinity series for a while, and has now sent out media invites for the launch event. The invite says “Let’s put a number to Infinity“, along with the date of the event on August 22nd. It also gives us a glimpse of the first handset to launch in the series and shows off its front panel. The image clearly indicates that the upcoming smartphone will sport a bezel-less fascia with rounded corners. While the specs of the handset is yet to be revealed, it’s expected to pack a Snapdragon SoC and powerful optics. While Micromax will be launching one handset from the range on the 22nd, the brand plans to launch three devices from the series before Diwali.
Notably, LG launched its Q6 smartphone recently with a bezel-less screen and aspect ratio of 18:9 in the mid-range. Micromax is also expected to make such displays mainstream and affordable with the Infinity series.
