“The Watch W7 is said to last up to 100 days on a single charge in watch-only mode”
Alongside the V40 ThinQ smartphone, LG also unveiled its much-awaited smartwatch, the Watch W7, at an event in the USA. Powered by Google’s WearOS, the wearable is a hybrid watch that comes with mechanical hands as well as a round touchscreen display. The Watch W7 features quartz movement and is packed inside a stainless steel body with a knob and two physical buttons on the right side.
As for the specifications, LG says that “in addition to keeping accurate time, the (watch’s) mechanical hands also display additional information such as altimeter, barometer, stopwatch, timer and compass directions.” The Watch W7 sports a 1.2-inch LCD display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. A 240mAh battery fuels the device, which is claimed to deliver a battery life up to three days as a smartwatch, and up to 100 days in a mechanical watch-only mode. It’s worth noting that unlike other smartwatches in the market, LG’s offering doesn’t come with any fitness-tracking features, nor it has a built-in GPS and LTE connectivity.
At the heart of the wearable lies the 1.1GHz Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, paired with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of eMMC storage. The SoC feels slightly dated, knowing that its successor, the Snapdragon Wear 3100 was launched recently. Moving on, the LG Watch W7 is IP68 Water and Dust resistant certified. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB Type-C port for charging. Weighing at 79.5 grams, the LG’s watch measures 44.5 x 45.4 x 12.9mm.
LG is offering the Watch W7 in just Cloud Silver colour option. It has been priced at $450 (~ Rs 33,250) and will go for sale in the US from October 14th with pre-orders starting from October 7th. The South Korean brand hasn’t divulged any plans to launch the device in India as of now.
