Lava Iris 501 gets Jelly Bean Upgrade

The Lava Iris 501 has received the Jelly Bean update. The Iris 501 marked the company’s grand entry into the phablet market with its 5-inch screen and the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system in January this year.

The new update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS will ring with it the joys of the Project Butter interface for smoother navigation and offline voice typing, Google Now, expandable and contractible Android notifications, high resolution contact images and much more.

The company has also reduced the device price in order to boost sales.

Iris 501 was launched with a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB ROM. It has 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity options and runs on a 2300mAh battery.

The device has nice specifications but was crushed by competition from other Jellybean enabled devices such as Karbonn Retina A27, Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2 and many more in the same price range with similar or better features. The new update along with the price cut should surely work its magic and give the much needed mileage to the device.
