Karbonn Mobiles to offer Instant Messenger and push-mail services

Karbonn Mobiles is coming up with its own instant messenger and free push-mail services on its range of mobile phones under the price tag of Rs 5,000. A senior executive of the company said to a newspaper that the new services may start within the next 10 days. images (1) According to Karbonn, the services enabled handsets will be about half the price than BlackBerry Curve, which is a popular entry-level phone by Research In Motion (RIM). The company mentions the handsets will be equipped with smart features and pre-embedded with several apps such as live TV, social network and YouTube. As of now, in the Indian market, telecom providers such as BSNL, Bharti and Vodafone offers push-mail services, and most of the smartphone manufacturers offer third-party instant messaging apps like that of Nimbuzz. Executive director of Karbonn Mobiles said, “We have an arrangement with technology partners to develop a solution customized for this device. We will launch one model in the next 10 days to begin with, and two more in the quarter.” Next week the company is to roll out its touch-and-type KT21 smartphone with Karbonn Instant Messaging (KIM) at a price of Rs 4,490. Currently the KIM and push mail services will come without any cost. After few months it will be made paid. Users can retrieve their emails on the real time basis and can also configure email accounts and view attachments. It is learned that the company may also come up with a 7-inch tablet in near future run on Android 4.0 OS and price tagged as Rs 6,990.
