Introducing Sony Xperia Ion – World’s first Sony LTE Smartphone

Sony after the transition (from Sony Ericsson), announced their flagship device to AT&T at 2012 International CES. The new Sony Xperia Ion smartphone is the World’s first Sony LTE smartphone and this is a pure icon of entertainment. The Xperia Ion is not only the new top of the line smartphone from Sony, but it is a flagship device in various markets including USA, Japan and many more countries. Also, by introducing the device to AT&T, Sony is committed in setting its foot on the U.S market once again.


There is no doubt,  Sony Xperia ion is a powerful device till the time. This smartphone boasts a stunning 4.6-inch HD touchscreen, the Reality Display with Mobile Bravia® Engine making the super-wide, LCD back-lit screen sharp and crisp. Under the hood, the device carries a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon dual core processor, with 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Sony Xperia Ion sports a 12.1 Megapixel Auto-focus camera with Sony’s Exmor-R for mobile CMOS sensor and LED Flash. This shooter comes with an array of camera options including image/video stabilizer, digital zoom, touch foucs, red-eye reduction, face detection, 3D sweep panaroma, video light and HD video recording @720p etc. Also, the Xperia Ion carries a front-facing VGA camera for video calling and is great for self-portraits too. Sony Xperia ion runs on Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread and soon it is entitled for and Android 4.0 ICS update. On top of the OS, the device comes loaded with Sony’s customized UI which is best in the market so far.

With the new Sony Xperia Ion the user can have a superior quality of entertainment experience by watching HD videos, playing 3D Games, Motions games, getting engaged with YouTube, social apps Facebook and Twitter etc. The integrated TimeScape tool will allow users to communicate with friends and relatives at just one place and also get notification alerts from various apps. Adding to these, the Xperia ION will have an access to Google Android market place and various Google powered applications.

To summarize the stuff, the new Sony Xperia ION is a perfect device and a pretty strong player in the market. However, there are many such device with the competitors waiting to get showcased at CES 2012. Till now there is no word about the device pricing and availability in markets. So, let’s wait for a couple of days and then jump to conclusions.
