Huawei Watch GT and Band 3 Pro go official with up to 30 days of battery life

At its event in London today, Chinese electronics conglomerate Huawei has unveiled its latest wearable devices – the Watch GT smartwatch and Band 3 Pro fitness tracker. Both the wearables were unveiled alongside the latest Huawei Mate series flagship smartphones – the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. The new Huawei smartwatch and fitness tracker have been released with a focus on battery life.

The Chinese brand has ditched Android Wear in favour of its in-house Light OS on its latest Watch GT smartwatch. The company says that the reason behind is that Light OS is much more power-efficient and delivers higher battery life. Huawei also claims that the wearable is capable of offering 22 hours of usage with continuous exercise tracking, GPS and health rate tracking, and always-screen on. With GPS switched off, you can have up to 30 days of messages and call alerts, and heart-rate monitoring.

As for the other specs, the Huawei Watch GT offers a 1.39-inch AMOLED touch-enabled screen. The device is capable of identifying different type of exercises like running, hiking, walking, and cycling. The device has a tri-GPS system, with GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo / Beidou tracking. The smartwatch sports Truseen 3.0 heart rate monitoring, which has a self-learning algorithm to provide more insightful data. Notably, the wearable gets a new dual-chipset architecture, which is power efficient, thanks to AI.

Talking about the Huawei Band 3 Pro, the wearable is capable of GPS tracking, and auto-recognition of swimming, cycling, and running types. The accessory offers 5ATM water resistance, a 0.95-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a heart-rate sensor, and a VO2Max sensor. The band is rated to deliver 17 days of regular usage, eight hours of GPS active time, and up to a month of standby time. The device is capable of feeding tracked fitness data to the Huawei Health app on your smartphone via Bluetooth. 

Huawei Watch GT and Band 3 Pro prices and availability

The Huawei Watch GT is available in Sport and Watch variants, and cost €199 (~Rs 17,000) and €249 (21,000), respectively. The Band 3 Pro on the other hand, will set you back by €99 (~Rs 8,500). At the moment, the company hasn’t divulged any information about their availability and if they’ll be launched in India.
