“The Huawei MediaPad M5 will be offered in three variants – M5 8, M5 10 and M5 10 Pro”

Earlier this month, Huawei sent out invites for its press event for the MWC 2018, which will take place on February 25th in Barcelona. The company is expected to launch new MateBook series laptops, new MediaPad tablets, and a Watch 3 smartwatch at the event. Now, the well-known tipster, Roland Quandt (@rquandt) has revealed the variants and pricing of MediaPad M5 tablets expected at the upcoming event.

Quandt has revealed that the MediaPad M5 will be launched in three variants – MediaPad M5 8, MediaPad M5 10 and MediaPad M5 10 Pro. The base variant, M5 8 has been codenamed as Schubert and bears the model number SHT-XXX. The base variant will be offered with 4GB RAM and native storage of 32GB. The tablet will be offered in both Wi-Fi and LTE variant. Moving on to the M5 10, the device has been codenamed Cameron and features the model number CMR-XXX. It will also be offered in Wi-Fi and LTE variants, and offer the same RAM/storage configuration as the base variant. Lastly, the MediaPad M5 10 Pro is codenamed Cameron Pro and has features like 64GB storage, support for the M-Pen stylus and will come in only an LTE variant.

According to previous speculations, the MediaPad M5 8 is likely to come with an 8.4-inch display featuring a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. It is expected to be powered by a Kirin 960 SoC and will run EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. On the connectivity front, it is expected to come with Cat. 4 LTE modem and USB-C port. However, the brand is expected to give the 3.5mm audio jack a miss in the new series of MediaPad tablets. The base variant is also expected to come powered by a beefy 4,980mAh battery.

As for the pricing, Quandt has revealed that MediaPad M5 8 Wi-Fi only will retail for €329 (~Rs 26,000) and the LTE model will cost €380 (~Rs 30,000).
