“These suggestions will let you get the most out of the cameras on the 9 Lite”
Dual cameras are a passé. At least that’s what Huawei youth-focused brand, Honor seems to be believing in. In October last year, it launched a quad camera-toting smartphone in the form of the Honor 9i. And this year, the company introduced an affordable smartphone with a quad-camera setup, the Honor 9 Lite. Now you’ve if you’ve recently purchased it or planning to buy it, and want to use its camera capabilities to the max, then you’re at the right place.
Along with dual cameras at the front as well as the back, the Honor 9 Lite is also a bezel-less smartphone. That means that it’s able to pack a 5.65-inch display in a form factor of 5.2-incher. The IPS display bears an FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, it draws power from a Kirin 659 processor, which is paired with 3-, or 4GB RAM. Depending upon the RAM variant, it ships with 32GB or 64GB storage onboard. A 3,000mAh battery fuels the device.
The camera specs
The Honor 9 Lite flaunts a 13-megapixel camera coupled with a 2MP depth-enabled sensor at the rear as well as the front. The main camera has an aperture of f/2.2 aperture. The handset also features an LED flash at both ends. Now that we’ve covered the basics, it’s time to offer the best tips and tricks to get the most out of the spate of cameras on the 9 Lite. Do note that we won’t be discussing basic suggestions such as using a grid to get better framing, or keeping your hands steady while capturing a scene.
Stand out from the crowd
Honor pioneered the dual cameras and the portrait mode, and now it’s bringing that capability to the budget segment with the 9 Lite. The smartphone comes with the wide aperture as well as the portrait mode. Both of these modes ensure that the subject stands out from the rest of the background. However, the wide aperture mode also lets you adjust the aperture between f/0.95 to f/16 in order to ensure that the resulting image doesn’t look too artificial. Portrait mode, on the other hand, is suited for capturing people.
Add life to the stills with Moving picture
As the popular saying goes: “every picture tells a story”, so why not shoot images in the same manner? With the Moving picture mode on the Honor 9 Lite, you can do so as it also records a short video clip when you click the shutter button.
Use Pro Photo and Pro Video mode to get more control
If you want to get better images in a certain situation, Pro mode comes in handy. The Honor 9 Lite lets you tweak ISO, exposure, shutter speed, white balance, etc. More importantly, it also lets you adjust these settings while capturing a video, which is usually not available on most smartphones.
Make your images artistic with live filters
If you want to add more charm to your images, then the Honor 9 Lite comes with a number of filters, the effect of which you can see in real-time. These filters range from nostalgia to monochrome, among other options. Unlike many phones, Honor’s offering also lets you control the filter level from one to 32.
Add more dimensions to your photos with Watermark
Do you want to add more perspective to the breakfast or lunch you are just eating? Or mention about the awesome scenic spot you are roaming in? On the 9 Lite, you can do so with the Watermark feature which lets you add information about the date, weather, location, and even about your mood, anywhere on the image.
Take stunning images with the Light Painting mode
If you always feel envious of light trails or light graffiti captured by your friends owning a DSLR, then the Honor 9 Lite puts an end to that. It has a Light Painting mode, which comes with four options: Tail light trails, light graffiti, silky water and star track, which you can use as per the scene. Keep in mind however, using the phone with a tripod is advisable to capture such shots as they require long exposure times.
Edit pictures to enhance them further
While you can use third-party editing apps, the 9 Lite comes with a versatile built-in editor to offer you similar capabilities. Along with basic options like rotating, cropping, changing brightness, contrast, etc., you can also use splash option to highlight a single colour in the scene. With Illusion, you can create an artificial blur effect in the shape you like. There are options like Graffiti and Mosaic as well.
It’s evident that the Honor 9 Lite is more than just its four cameras, as its camera interface lets you make the images even better. Which trick did you like the most? Let us know in the comments below.
