“HMD Global is expected to launch 2018 variants of the Nokia 2, Nokia 3, and Nokia 5 at the event”
Earlier today, HMD Global owned Nokia launched the brand’s first ever smartphone with notch display – X6 in China. Now, the brand has sent out media invites for a grand event to be held in Russia on May 29th. However, it is not certain at this point as to which smartphones will be launched at the event, since the brand has not mentioned any device in the invite itself.
The media invite is in Russian, however, the text translates to “Dear friends. We invite you to worldwide premiere new Nokia phones.” The worldwide premiere hints that the brand is gearing up to launch several new Nokia phones, which have not already been announced this year. It is being speculated that the event could witness the launch of the 2018 variants of the Nokia 2 (first impressions), Nokia 3 (unboxing) and Nokia 5 (review). This is in line with the recent confirmation from the Pekka Rentala, CMO HMD Global, that these smartphones are in works and will arrive shortly. However, nothing is concrete at this point. HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas also hinted that the 2018 variant of Nokia 5 might arrive soon.
The media invite also reveals that the entire management of HMD Global including the CEO, CMO and CPO will be in the attendance at the event. We will bring you more updates on May 29th as the event unfurls, so stay tuned.
