“The S6 Pro sports an octa-core SoC, 64GB of storage, 13MP/8MP cameras, and VoLTE”
Gionee has expanded its range of S series smartphones in India with the launch of the S6 Pro. The phone comes as a successor to the Gionee S6 (first impressions), which was launched in the country in February. Similar to its predecessor, the Gionee S6 Pro also flaunts an appealing metal unibody design and a USB Type-C port. As for the upgrades, the S6 Pro gets a fingerprint sensor at the back, which the brand claims can unlock the phone in just 0.1 seconds.
Coming to the other specs, the Gionee S6 Pro sports a phablet-grade 5.5-inch (13.97cm) full HD screen with 2.5D curved glass, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.2 UI on top. Handling the performance is a 1.8GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, mated to 4GB of RAM and Mali T860-MP2 graphics. The storage capacity on board is 64GB, which you can further increase up to 128GB by inserting a microSD card.
The camera department includes a 13-megapixel primary shooter with phase detection autofocus and an LED flash. For selfies and video calling, the phone gets an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper and a screen flash feature. Apart from a USB Type-C port, the other connectivity options include 4G with VoLTE (voice over LTE) support, dual-SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. Powering the phone is a 3,130mAh battery.
The S6 Pro comes pre-loaded with Gionee VR app, which lets you enjoy VR games available in G-Store. The phone has been priced at Rs 23,999, and will be available via major brick-and-mortar retail stores across the country starting tomorrow. It comes in gold and rose gold hues. The optional VR headset for the device will be available for Rs 2,499. As part of the launch offer, it comes bundled with a three month subscription to Saavn Pro.
