Gail Davis downloads ten billionth app from iTunes

As predicted, Apple’s Appstore crossed 10 billion downloads on January 22nd. Apple released an official announcement about this and said Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, UK downloaded the 10 billionth app when her daughter downloaded a free Paper Glider app to her iPod touch device. Gail Davis will now receive a gift card for iTunes worth $10,000. There was a little bit of drama involved when Apple tried to get in touch with Gail Davis to inform her about the award. When an apple executive tried to get in touch with Gail Davis, she hung up the phone thinking that it was a prank call! “I thought it was a prank call,” says Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, UK. “I said, ‘Thank you very much, I’m not interested’ and I hung up.” Her daughters downloaded several apps from appstore using their ipod touch device that morning and ended up downloading the 10 billionth application. Gail was not aware of this! Once she came to know about this, she became tense and tried to get in touch with the apple’s helpdesk who were of not much help. Luckily for her, apple executive called back after couple of hours and this time she gladly accepted that as a genuine call..:) Via cultofmac and Apple
