“The ASUS ZenFone 5 Max runs Android 8.0 Oreo and has 6GB of RAM”
The Taiwanese handset maker ASUS launched its fifth generation ZenFones – the ZenFone 5 (first impressions) and ZenFone 5Z with display notch designs and dual cameras at MWC 2018 last month. At the same event, the brand also launched the ZenFone 5 Lite (first impressions) with an 18:9 display and quad cameras. Now, it seems that ASUS is gearing up to launch the fourth device in the line-up in the form of the ZenFone 5 Max. The Max variant of the line-up, which is expected to fall in the affordable price segment, has allegedly turned up on the benchmarking website Geekbench.
The Geekbench listing, with model number X00QD, suggests that the ZenFone 5 Max will be a battery-centric smartphone in the line-up. The listing also reveals that the smartphone will come powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chip which has been clocked at 2.2GHz. The chipset is seemingly backed by 4GB RAM and runs the current generation Android Oreo operating system. On Geekbench, the alleged ZenFone 5 Max scored 1,518 points in single-core and 5,386 points in multi-core tests. This is especially impressive considering that the earlier ZenFone Max models have been powered by MediaTek chipsets. The new Max model might borrow specs from the ZenFone 5 Lite but apart from these bits, other information about the smartphone is currently unavailable.
Speaking of the ZenFone 5 Lite, the smartphone comes with 20-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual camera sensors on the front and a rear-facing camera setup consisting of 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel sensors, along with an LED flash. The Lite variant comes with a 6-inch 18:9 display offering full HD+ resolution. The ZenFone 5 Lite is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, coupled with either 3GB or 4GB RAM. Notably, ASUS launched the Lite model with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 variant as well. Other specs include 3,300mAh battery, 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
Coming back to the ZenFone 5 Max, there is no information regarding the pricing and availability of the handset. We will bring you more updates whenever they emerge.
