“The ZenFone 4 series smartphones deliver impressive camera features”
ASUS has been teasing the launch of the ZenFone 4 series smartphones for a while. Today, the company has officially launched the ZenFone 4 devices in alongside their Pro variants at an event in Taiwan. The newly launched devices include the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Max and ZenFone 4 Max Pro. The ZenFone 4 Max was already unveiled a couple of weeks ago.
Starting with the ZenFone 4, the phone sports a premium metal unibody design with a fingerprint sensor that’s integrated into its home button. The device flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD Super IPS+ display, and boots Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone comes with Snapdragon 660 SoC in some markets and Snapdragon 630 in others. The handset offers 4GB or 6GB of RAM, coupled with 64GB of storage expandable up to 2TB. It brings a 3,300mAh battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack and DTS Headphone: X 7.1 channel surround sound support.
As for the camera features, the ZenFone 4 gets a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor at the rear with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF and OIS, aided by an 8MP Omnivision 8856 sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree lens. In the front, the handset sports an 8-megapixel Omnivision 8856 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens.
The biggest star of the ZenFone 4 series is indeed the ZenFone 4 Pro. This one flaunts the top-notch Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, mated to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone boasts a 12MP Sony IMX362 camera at the rear with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, Qualcomm’s Spectra 180 sensor, TriTech+ autofocus technology and ASUS SuperPixel picture engine. The main sensor is aided by a 16MP Sony IMX351 sensor with a 2x optical zoom lens. In the front, it offers an 8MP Sony IMX319 snapper with f/1.9 aperture. The handset is also fitted with a beefier 3,600mAh battery.
Coming the ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie, the phone gets dual cameras on the front rather than the rear. The selfie camera setup includes a 20MP snapper, aided by an 8MP shooter. At the rear, it gets a 16-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus. The other specs include a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, a Snapdragon 430 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 3,000mAh battery.
The ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro offers a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor on the front with an f/1.8 lens that can be set to produce 24MP output, which the company is referring to as the 24MP DuoPixel feature. This shooter is also accompanied by a 5MP Omnivision 5670 sensor with f/2.2 aperture. At the rear, it gets a 16-megapixel Sony IMX351 shooter with f/2.2 aperture and SuperPixel picture engine. This one packs a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 625 SoC, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 3,000mAh battery.
The ZenFone 4 Max offers a 5.5-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 425 or 430 SoC depending on the region, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery, a 13MP + 5MP dual camera setup at the rear, and an 8MP selfie snapper. The ZenFone 4 Max Pro offers a 16MP + 5MP dual rear camera setup, a 16MP selfie shooter, up to 3GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage and a 5,000mAh battery. Its display size is the same as the ZenFone 4 Max.
As for the pricing, the ZenFone 4 will be available starting at $399 (~Rs 25,600), while the ZenFone 4 Pro will cost $599 (~Rs 38,400). The ZenFone 4 Selfie starts from $279 (~Rs 17,900), while the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro will set you back by $379 (~Rs 24,300). Pricing of the ZenFone 4 Max variants will be announced soon. The company has also revealed that the ZenFone 4 series devices will be upgraded to Android O, followed by all the ZenFone 3 series smartphones.
