Apple pushes the frontier. Competitors back to the drawing room.

After apple unveiled its next-generation iPad, the writing on the wall was pretty clear for the competitors or cloners if we should say. Apple showcased a thinner ipad, thinner by almost 33% measuring just 8.8 mm or 0.34 inches thick. Apple also priced the iPad 2 very competitively with the entry level model at 499$ and the premium model at $829. Now the competitors are wondering whether their next generation tablets are cut for the task and how should they price the gadgets. Samsung on its part made some statements in the aftermath of Apple iPad 2. Samsung’s executive VP Lee Den-Joo said “We need to improve the parts that are inadequate” and “Apple made the it [iPad 2] very thin”. He also said “The 10-inch (tablet) was to be priced higher than the 7-inch (tablet), but we will have to think it over”. So samsung IS rethinking their pricing strategy. The speculations were that the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 would be priced higher than Samsung Galaxy Tab. But considering the price point of iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 might be available at affordable and lower price. Price wars on tablets in on. The next generation computing device is ready for mass-market. At the risk of sounding repetitive, “2011 is definitely the year of tablets”. samsung-galaxy-tab-8.9 Samsung has also put up a teaser page on its facebook account pointing out to a new product launch. We guess, it’s most probably the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 inch. The teaser message read “Were you excited about the introduction of our GALAXY Tab 10.1 at 2011 Mobile World Congress? If you so, we’ve got more surprises in store at our UNPACKED event on 3/22!”.
