Apple launches iPad Air with retina 9.7inch display for $499, available from November 1st

In San Francisco today, Apple’s Phil Schiller has unveiled the latest update to its iPad tablet line up in company’s media event. Apple noted that after selling more than 170 Million tablets, the company is now debuting the fourth generation of its tablet range called the Apple iPad Air with a retina display. The new Apple iPad is thinner and lighter than before which also makes it one of the lightest big size tablet in the market.

Features wise, Apple iPad Air comes with a 9.7 inch retina display with the resolution of2048*1536 pixels. The next gen Apple tablet is powered by the new Apple A7 chip with 64-bit architecture along with M7 motion processor. It is running on the all new Apple iOS 7 operating system version. It will be available to buy in space grey and silver color models. Company has introduced four different models in the terms of internal storage- 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB.

There are two base models of the new iPad – WiFi and WiFi + Cellular connectivity. Connectivity wise, it offers WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and LTE options. It comes with a rear iSight 5MP camera and FaceTime HD front camera. It will be able to provide usage up to 10 hours while surfing the web on WiFi or watching movies. WiFi model of the Apple iPad Air is priced at $499 for 16GB internal storage, while the WiFi + Cellular connectivity offering model with 16GB storage is priced at $629. It will start shipping from November 1st and will be supporting Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T as well as many other telecom operators across the globe.
