“The affordable Apple iPhone XR with a 6.1-inch LCD display is finally here”
At Apple’s ‘Gather Round’ event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino today, the company announced its latest crop of iPhones – the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Alongside, the company has also launched the much speculated iPhone XR.
The Apple iPhone XR comes with the same glass-sandwich design as the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, and is crafted from series 7000 aerospace aluminium. The device comes with a 6.1-inch edge-to-edge LCD ‘Liquid Retina’ display which supports tap to wake. It comes with a display notch, and like its more expensive siblings, offers Face ID, marking the end of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on iPhones. For performance, the latest smartphone gets the latest 7nm Apple A12 Bionic processor ticking at its core. The iPhone XR is IP67 certified for protection against water and dust.
Coming to the imaging department, the iPhone XR flaunts a single 12-megapixel wide-angle iSight camera with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, Smart HDR and TrueTone LED flash. The 12MP camera is the same sensor seen on the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, and offers portrait mode photos as well, but in this case it uses a combination of hardware and software. For selfies and video calling, there is an 7MP TrueDepth camera with portrait mode and portrait lighting features.
Apple says the iPhone XR will offer 90 minutes more battery than the iPhone 8 Plus. It comes with wireless charging as well. The iPhone XR offers LTE Advanced, Bluetooth 5.0 and Dual SIM connectivity features. It is available three storage configurations – 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, which are priced at Rs 76,900, Rs 81,900, and Rs 91,900 respectively. It goes on sale in India starting October 26th. It will be available in a choice of six colours – white, black, blue, yellow, coral and PRODUCT (RED).
