Apple is reportedly working with Carl Zeiss on AR glasses

“Apple’s augmented reality / mixed reality glasses may be unveiled this year”

Last year, a report had suggested that Apple might be working on a pair of smart glasses, which would be able to pair with the iPhone wirelessly like the AirPods. Now in a Facebook post, tech evangelist Robert Scoble suggests that Apple is working on a pair of augmented reality smart glasses in collaboration with Carl Zeiss.

Citing an unnamed employee at Zeiss, Scoble reports that Apple’s augmented reality / mixed reality glasses may be unveiled next year. It’s worth mentioning that Zeiss has expertise in virtual reality headsets and cameras. The company has launched the VR One, its own VR headset to use with smartphones.

Apple already has a full team dedicated to AR and VR research, which is working on to incorporate these technologies in future Apple devices. Last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that augmented reality is larger and more interactive than virtual reality. The brand has already filed several patents in the US that deal with AR.
